These octal buffers and line drivers are designed specifically toimprove the performance and density of 3-state memory addressdrivers, clock drivers, and bus-oriented receivers and transmitters.
The 'ACT240 are organized as two 4-bit buffers/drivers withseparate output-enable (
)inputs. When
is low, thedevice passes inverted data from the A inputs to the Y outputs. When
is high, theoutputs are in the high-impedance state.
The SN54ACT240 is characterized for operation over the fullmilitary temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. TheSN74ACT240 is characterized for operation from -40°C to85°C.
