DESIGN AND LAYOUT GUIDELINES FOR THE TNETX4090This application report is designed to assist the design engineer in the physical design and layout of the printed circuit board (PCB) on which the Texas Instruments (TI™) TNETX4090 device resides as well as in preserving signal integrity. This document contains specific recommendations on the layout of the Rambus® Channel along with recommendations on areas requiring signal terminations. Other topics include power sources, power bypassing recommendations, and general layout considerations.
This report does not discuss using a channel upgrade socket to increase the amount of Rambus RDRAM memory and does not cover the architecture of the Rambus DRAMS. Rambus considerations include installing Rambus DRAM devices directly on the circuit card, providing designers a set of guidelines to make the layout of the Rambus channel with the TNETX4090 silicon straightforward.
