



A TMS320C53-BASED ENHANCED ERROR-CORRECTION SCHEME FOR U.S. DIGITAL CELLULARThis document presents a forward error-correction scheme complying with the US Digital Cellular (USPC) standard. The scheme uses a generalized Viterbi algorithm to enhance performance of the USPC voice channel decoder. The application is implemented on a TMS320C53 fixed-point DSP. Using the algorithm on the TMS320C53 DSP does not increase the computational overhead when compared with a standard Viterbi algorithm.
