OPTICAL QUALITY ASSURANCE WITH PARALLEL PROCESSORS

One advantage of parallel processors (PPs) is that their performance is made scaleable by the addition of more processors to the system. Interprocesor communication is guaranteed by high-speed interfaces that transfer data independent of the CPU. This document shows a TMS320C40 32-bit floating-point parallel digital signal processor used in an industrial environment application to ensure the quality of surfaces, such as those of ball bearings.
