CALCULATION OF TMS320C5X POWER DISSIPATIONThe power supply current requirements for the 16-bit fixed-point TMS320C5x digital signal processor (DSP) depend not only on the device functionality, but also on the system parameters. This document describes the techniques for analyzing the system and device operating current levels. Once these factors are determined the power dissipation can be calculated followed in turn by the device thermal management requirements. The appendix of the document contains an assembler code listing for a finite impulse response (FIR) filter.
