DSP University Research Fund

Overview
The Texas Instruments Incorporated DSP University Research Fund is to support software applications for high performance digital signal processors (DSPs) at universities around the world. Projects must develop and demonstrate new applications using TI DSPs; design and deliver high performance software implementations of existing algorithms using TI DSPs; or propose and evaluate new DSP algorithms using TI DSPs.

Process
In order to determine whether you qualify as a potential candidate for TI DSP University Research Fund award, go through the evaluation process.

FAQ's
Q. How do you qualify?
A. TI will begin accepting abstracts Oct. 13, 1997.

Q. Does this research have to be done on TI DSPs?
A. This research will provide new applications and software using TI DSP's.

Q. Who qualifies?
A. Universities worldwide that have an established DSP program or that have an accredited engineering or computer science program (e.g. Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology in the U.S.) The principal investigator for each project must be a university professor.

Q. When we will hear something back?
A. Initial response is targeted for within 60 days.

Q. What types of projects will be accepted?
A. Projects must develop and demonstration new applications using TI DSPs; design and deliver high performance software implementations of existing algorithms using TI DSPs; or propose and evaluate new DSP algorithms using TI DSPs.

Q. How long will the funds be available?
A. It depends on the quality of applications and the number received. It's expected to be a multi-year project.

Q. What's the maximum grant value?
A. No maximum has been set at this time.

Q. Has TI ever done something like this before?
A. No.

Q. Have other companies done this before?
A. Other companies have set up similar research funds, but this is the first focused solely on DSP development and applications research.
