TMS320C54x Evaluation Module (EVM)The C54x Evaluation Module (EVM) is a low-cost, PC-AT plug-in card that lets you evaluate certain characteristics of the C54x digital signal processor (DSP) to see if the DSP meets your application requirements. You can also create your software to run on board or expand the system in a variety of ways. The C54x EVM carries a C541 DSP on board to allow full-speed verification of C54x code. The C54x has 5K bytes of on-chip program/data RAM, 28K bytes of on-chip ROM, two serial ports, a timer, access to 64K bytes each of external program and data RAM, and an external analog interface for evaluation of the C54x family of devices for a given application. The C541 operates at 40 MIPS with 128K words of zero wait-state memory. C54x EVM application software is available on the The EVM uses embedded scan-based emulation via the on-board Test Bus Controller (TBC) IC. Using the scan path, the Debugger Software can run and halt the C54x and scan in and out all of the bits of each register. This basically gives XDS510 capability for a fixed target system enabling you to evaluate the C54x DSP and tools or begin development of software before your hardware is complete. The C54x EVM package includes the PC Assembly Language Tools which consists of the assembler, archiver, linker and hex conversion utility. The C compiler is sold separately. EVM features include:
The C54x EVM package also includes the same TMS320 Debugger Interface that is used with all TMS320 Simulator, Emulator and EVM products. |
