TMS320C3x XDS510/XDS510WSThe TMS320 Extended Development Systems (XDSs) are powerful, full-speed emulators used for system-level integration and debug. TI provides the world's first in-system scan-based emulators. TI provides C3x emulation systems for both PC and SPARC systems:
The emulator enables the TMS320 Debugger Interface, which is sold separately, to control the C3x on the target board. This is done by interfacing the target system to the emulator via the MPSD emulation cable. The Debugger can then be used to verify the functionality of the C3x software and target hardware. The emulators use scan-based emulation which is a nonintrusive approach to system emulation and debug. The emulator connects to a 12-pin header that must be designed into the target board. This header consists of a power signal, a clock signal, some ground signals and the 4 MPSD pins of the C3x. The C3x was designed before the JTAG standard was finalized so it uses the Modular Port Scan Device (MPSD) port to control the on-chip emulation scan path rather than a JTAG port. Using the scan path, the emulator can run and halt the C3x and scan in and out all of the bits of each register. Key features of the XDS510/XDS510WS include:
