TMS320C1x Evaluation Module (EVM)The C1x Evaluation Module (EVM) provides a low-cost development board for device evaluation, benchmarking, and limited system debug. The EVM is a half-size AT board that lets you evaluate certain characteristics of the TMS320C1x DSPs to see if they meet the requirements of an application. The TMS320C16 EVM carries a TMS320C16 DSP on board to allow full-speed verification of your TMS320C1x code. The TMS320C16 is a speed and memory superset of the C10 and C15, and its peripherals are identical to the peripherals of both of those devices. Therefore, the C16 EVM can be used to evaluate the suitability of the C16, the C15, or the C10 for a given application. The EVM uses embedded scan-based emulation via the on-board Test Bus Controller (TBC) IC. Using the scan path, the Debugger Software can run and halt the C1x and scan in and out all of the bits of each register. This basically gives XDS/22 capability for a fixed target system enabling you to evaluate the C1x DSP and tools or begin development of software before your hardware is complete. EVM features include:
The C1x EVM package includes the PC Assembly Language Tools which consists of the assembler, archiver, linker and hex conversion utility. The C1x EVM package also includes the same TMS320 Debugger Interface that is used with all TMS320 Simulator, Emulator and EVM products. |
