Software Overview
Recosyst Research & Development is offering a software module for high-quality speech and general
signal compression at 9.6 kbps. The software is conceived to be running entirely on RAM, so that it
can be loaded from a controller into several compression modules. A near-end echo canceller is
integrated into the software. The main advantages of this software package are the high-quality,
the very high-stability degree, and the capability of encoding signals other than speech.
Typical applications are cryptography, multiple-channel speech compression in ISDN, and speech
recording on computer hard disks.

Data RAM: 3K word
Program RAM or ROM: 6K word
Algorithm load: 80% of 'C3x
Echo canceller load: 10% of 'C3x
Algorithm Verification
The speech compression algorithm has been tested with several male and female speakers. The
subjective tests indicate a very high degree of acceptation, especially with female voices, which
usually represent a problem for traditional speech coders.
Laboratory measurements indicate a signal-to-distortion ratio better than 20 dB with any kind of
speech.
Availability
The algorithm is available under a royalty-free one-time licensing agreement with source code
option against NDA. Demonstration versions are available at our facilities in Germany.
