DSPgate™ Development Kit Version 1.3
by AB Nyvalla DSP

Software Overview

Nyvalla DSP's DSPgate is an application programmers' interface (API) for DSP applications under
Microsoft Windows. The DSPgate Development Kit includes three components to build the applications.
The PC side of DSPgate is a dynamic-link library for sharing the DSP board between different
applications, board initialization, DSP program file download, messaging, and block data transfers.
The DSP side contains a static DSP library providing an API for communication with PC host program
and hardware, such as A/D and D/A converters. The third component of the DSPgate Development Kit is
DSPy™, a message-level debugger.

Features and Benefits

•	Bi-directional message-level DSP interface
•	Fully integrated with the Microsoft Windows message model, arbitrates DSP resources between host
applications
•	Supports multiple polymorphic message handlers on the DSP
•	Reduces debugging to a minimum
•	Hides hardware specifics from applications on both the DSP and the host computer

Processor and System Requirements

•	PC with Windows 3.1 or `95
•	DSP board with DSPgate support (currently TMS320C3x)
•	Algorithm category: Run-Time Support Library

Usage Limitations or Performance Considerations

•	Required:
Program memory: `C3x: 1.2 kwords
Data memory, `C3x: 0.2 kwords
Processor loading: Not applicable
•	Sampling rate: 4–48 kHz (recommended)
•	Language supported: TMS320C30 Optimizing C

Algorithm Verification

•	Not applicable.
