Software Overview

MultiDSP's JPEG software is the fastest, most efficient, and easy-to-use C-language JPEG baseline 
library.  It contains the following features: RGB-to-YCbCr color transformation, forward discrete 
cosine transform, quantization, Huffman variable word length encoder, encoder and decoder 
C-callable library DLL functions. Both source and object codes are available. Special customer 
design such as TMS320C3x code is also available upon request.

Features and Benefits

•	Fastest C language JPEG baseline library supporting 8-bit grayscale and 24-bit color images
•	Fully compliant with the JPEG-8-R8 baseline specs
•	Three user-selectable quantization tables and data reduction transformation formats, 1:1:1, or 
2:1:1, or 4:1:1 for desired compression ratio
•	Interleaved and noninterleaved data formats

Usage Limitations or Performance Considerations

The estimated MIP rating presented requires the on-chip, zero-wait-state program and date memory. 
The picture is a 256 x 240 pixel image.
•	RGB Encoder: 9 MIP
•	RGB Decoder:  12 MIP
•	Data Memory: 0.5 kwords
•	RGB Encoder Program Memory: 2.5 kwords
•	RGB Decoder Program Memory: 6.5  kwords 

Algorithm Verification

MultiDSP's JPEG Library is validated through the following suite of tests:
•	MultiDSP's JPEG ImagePro encoder test
•	MultiDSP's JPEG ImagePro decoder test

Company Background and Contact Information

MultiDSP was founded by H. G. Yeh and C. Hsueh. The founders of MultiDSP have over 20 years of 
experience in DSP algorithms, hardware and software systems, control and telecommunications 
systems. Specifically, Dr. H. G. Yeh has been  honored with several awards from NASA. He also owns 
a U.S. patent on Kalman Filter Implementation. MultiDSP's business model is to develop a close
