











V.29 Fax Modem

Software Overview
The HotHaus V.29 fax modem software module is fully compliant with the ITU-T V.29 recommendation,
and provides for 9600-bps Group 3 fax modem communications. It is available standalone or as a PSTN
line service for HausWare. V.29 also includes V.21 and T.30.
The V.29 fax modem includes a fax manager for interfacing with a DSP host (or HausWare), supports
automatic and manual fax modes, supports voice control and voice request, and will generate Calling
Tone (CNG) and called station ID (CED).
A well written and thorough Technical Reference Manual is available describing the V.29 data modem
and how to interface to it via C or assembly. Example C and Psuedocode are included in the manual.
All HotHaus software modules are all designed to operate with minimal MIPS and memory. V.29 has
been written entirely in assembly.

• 3 MIPS transmitting, 8 MIPS receiving, and 7K Words of ROM are required
• Fully re-entrant, each extra port requires only small additional RAM space
• Fallback support to 4800 bps

Immediately on 'C5x. Can easily be ported to 'C2xx and other TI fixed-point DSPs.
