Caller ID Modem
by HotHaus Technologies
Software Overview
The HotHaus Caller ID (CLASS) modem software module is fully compliant with the Bellcore
specification TR-NWT-001273 which is the standard widely used in North America. It provides for
demodulation of serial binary synchronous signals at 1200 bps using FSK. It is available
stand-alone or as a PSTN line service for HausWare.
CLASS extracts the message type, the message length, the CLASS data, and the checksum, and buffers
them for processing by the host function. The CLASS demodulator is based on a delay multiply FSK
architecture.
A well written and thorough Technical Reference Manual is available describing the CLASS modem and
how to interface to it via C or assembly. Example C and Psuedocode are included in the manual.
All HotHaus software modules are all designed to operate with minimal MIPS and memory. CLASS has
been written entirely in assembly.
