Software Overview

Advansis/RT40 is a real-time kernel optimized for 'C4x DSPs. Several performance-enhancing features 
make it the kernel of choice for multi-tasking DSP applications.
Advansis/RT40 provides a simple set of kernel functions written entirely in hand-optimized assembly 
language. This reduces overhead for critical system functions such as preemptive scheduling and 
task and interrupt synchronization.
Advansis/RT40 also makes use of two innovative techniques for improving performance. The first is 
fast task switching. This is accomplished though task switching optimized for C code as well as 
reduced task contexts optimized for assembly language code.
The second technique involves interrupt support. Advansis/RT40 has a carefully designed kernel 
which minimizes interrupt latency. This is done by limiting the amount of time interrupts are 
disabled during critical system functions.
In addition to these core multi-tasking features, Advansis/RT40 includes memory management and 
device driver modules to complete the real-time multi-tasking kernel.
