DSKplus Board Block Diagram
Parallel PortInterface Logic
Notes:
The DSKplus is a small demonstration board which has a DSP on it, in this case the 542. It has an A/D and D/A, one of the TI AIC, with an analog in and analog out so speakers, radios, tape players, CD players, etc., can be input into the DSP. It also has an external power source and a connector at the interface to the PC. There is a parallel interface port shown on the right side of this diagram. This port connects to the printer port on a PC. At the bottom of the block diagram we also see an expansion interface.
All of the pins from the DSP are brought out to this expansion interface so that headers can be added to have additional memory, or test points, or to connect a different A/D and wire that in to either I/O space or a serial port. Additionally, the connectors enable attachment of a header in order to use a JTAG interface to this board, making the DSKplus a target board as well as a stand-alone board.
All of these features combine to make the board very flexible.
