Notes:
The EVM is a traditional PC add-in ISA-bus card, rather than an external card like the DSKplus which sits out on the table and requires an external power source.
Like the DSKplus, the EVM has a DSP, an AIC, a test bus controller, analog inputs and outputs, and additional memory. Somewhat different from the DSKplus, the EVM has a serial connector so that if someone didn’t want to use the AIC on this board, but a different A/D with higher resolution or faster speeds, the external board could be connected to the serial port.
It has a C541 on it. Even if a customer is using a different C54x device, they could still debug with this board. It can be used in the same portion of the development cycle as the simulator to write & test code, but allows the developer to run on actual DSP hardware rather than the simulator.
The EVM has 128K words of zero wait-state SRAM which provides and excellent environment for loading and running larger programs than one might run on a DSKplus.
