Notes:
Now let’s investigate emulation. The XDS510 emulator is available as a plug in card for PC’s or as a standalone desktop unit for UNIX based workstations. With this system, customers can load programs and debug their target board.
The XDS510 is a serial scan path based emulator, as opposed to the old fashioned ICE (in-circuit emulators) that are used in lower speed processors. It contains a test bus controller - a device that acts as an interface between the debugging platform and the DSP or DSPs. You can have multiple DSPs in your scan path. The user interface of the CDS510 looks very much like the simulator ( and other tools) , but with some additional drop down menus for hardware breakpoints. To use the XDS510, a debugger interface is attached to the DSP. At one end it connects to a SCSI port on the host machine, on the other end it plugs into the target board.
