In 1997 TI redefined the DSP landscape with the introduction of the 1600 MIPS TMS320C6201 fixed-point DSP. Now, TI has introduced the TMS320C6701, the first floating-point DSP to break the 1 billion floating-point operations per second (1 GFLOPS) barrier.
