The TMS320C54x DSPs from Texas Instruments give designers an edge in today's wireless and
wireline communications markets. This generation provides the right combination of ultra-low power dissipation, high performance, and cost effectiveness to meet the needs of a variety of terminal and infrastructure communications equipment.
The ’C54x DSPs are designed to execute up to 100 million instructions per second (MIPS)
while dissipating as low as 0.45 mA / MIPS. This power efficient performance is demanded by wireless communications applications like cellular phones, pagers, PCS terminals, as well as emerging applications like IP phones and portable information appliances. With 100 MIPS performance, the highly efficient C54x architecture helps to enable the
convergence of voice and data in a variety of circuit-switched or packet-switched-end-equipments.
Lower system costs—more functionality
The ’C54x generation provides a scalable solution from single-channel, low-cost applications to multi-channel implementations of algorithms like vocoders and echo cancellation. Delivering 40 to 100 MIPS performance with increased memory and peripheral integration, the C54x maximizes the number of channels that a particular system can offer, while maintaining or reducing board space.
