TI has announced a new, low-power 3.3-volt family of First-In-First-Out (FIFO) memories to allow high-performance workstations and desktop multimedia systems to consume less power yet maintain 5-volt FIFO performance.
The new FIFOs, designated the SN74ALVC78xx family, are designed to interface to high-speed microprocessors and DSPs, such as the TMS320C3x, 'C4x, and 'C8x generations. Organized in depths of 64, 256, or 512 bits, they offer speed sorts of 20, 25, or 40 ns in clocked or strobed design. Also, the devices are 18-bit Widebus FIFOs based on advanced low-voltage CMOS (ALVC) technology and are pin-for-pin compatible with TI's 5-volt FIFO products.
The devices are available now in a 56-pin SSOP from TI and its authorized distributors. For more information, request the High Performance FIFO Memories Data Book (SCAD003B) contact your regional TI Literature Response Center.
